    2016中国咖啡市场调查 Mintel estimates the retail market value of coffee in China has grown at a CAGR(Compound Annual Growth Rate) of13.5% between 2011 and 2016, reachingRMB14,793 million in 2016. The solid performance was mainly driven by the rise of RTD (ready-to-drink ) coffee and consumers trading up from instant coffee to fresh coffee. Looking ahead, the market will be consistently driven by the popular isationof drinking coffee, product premiumisation,and the growth of the RTD coffee segment.However, packaged coffee is also facing competition from the dynamic on-trade coffee innovations, such as the experiential cafe or cost-effective coffee provided by fast food chains. Therefore,Mintel predictsthe growth rate of total retail coffee market by value will reach RMB 22,069 million in2021 with a CAGR of 8.3% between 2016and 2021. The instant coffee segment continues to dominate the retail coffee market in China with an estimated 65.9% value share in2016, followed by RTD coffee at 21.9%and fresh coffee at 12.2%.
